Midwest Open 2010
Cascade Mountain hosted their annual Midwest Open big air and rail jam competition this past weekend. The blue skies and sun brought warm temperatures, which resulted in a lack of speed for some of the competitors, but once the in run was salted down the competition went off. Skiers came from close and far to this event, raising the talent level yet again.
In the 16 and up category, Roy Mitchell from Thunder Bay, Ontario came in 3rd place with a switch 9 nose mute.
Steve Janisch from St. Paul, Minnesota took home 2nd place with a stomped switch 7 mute.
1st place went to Kevin Tolzmann from Oregon, Wisconsin. Kevin threw a huge forward 10 safety.
In the 15 and under catergory, Ian King from Madison, Wisconsin took 3rd, Elan Maj from Gurnee, Illinois took 2nd, and Paul Marikfrom Fon Du Lac, Wisconsin took 1st.
The rail jam took place at night under the lights. The set up included a down flat down rail, down box top rail, down rail with a donkey dick, and a flat down box.
In the 16 and up, Arno Filliat from Brookfield, Wisconsin took 3rd. Arno was throwing some crazy 450 on blind 270 outs of the down box top rail. Coming in 2nd was Conner Ross from Portage, Wisconsin with his Andy Parry inspired rail tricks. 1st place was rail extraordinaire, Steve Janisch, with a mind blowing front side 630 out of the donkey dick rail as well as many jaw dropping combos on the flat down box including a 270 on, 360 switch up, 270 out.
In the 15 and under category, Adam Walz of Portage, Wisconsin took 3rd, Elan Maj took 2nd, and Ian King took 1st.
Midwest Open 2010 was a great success this year. Hopefully we will see you next year!
